VOLUNTEERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO HELP MAKE COSTUMES AT THE MAS CAMP STUDIO!

Friday June 4th, 2010

Toronto, Canada

Dexter Seusahai's Tribal Knights would like you to know that volunteers are always visiting us at the mas camp studio to learn how to make masquerader costumes from beginning to end; as well as learn about the history of Caribana as a part of Canadian heritage; and we provide volunteer and co-op placement hours!

This week we had a workshop with Darling Nicky who taught students from Centennial College about the history of Caribana as a part of Canadian heritage. The students from Centennial College are also working on a project that allows them to: produce design concepts for junior carnival, learn how to use the various tools, fabrics, and skills required to take their ideas from the drawing board and turn them into wearable costumes.

Darling Nicky said:"The course is on event management, and we spoke from 3 different aspects. 1) The financial support 2) The Mas production and 3) The Media. 95% of the students in the room had NOT attended a Caribana parade or related event."

This information helps us to better contribute to the heritage of Canada through Caribana!

EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO HELP MAKE MAS COSTUMES!

The Tribal Knights team has received a lot of requests from the public asking if they can help us make the costumes for Caribana. THE ANSWER IS YES!
